HOTARU KOI

Start listening...this is coming to you right after Holiday Break! Three part treble voices...do you want to split up voices within the choirs, or have 6th, 7th, and 8th graders sing each a separate part?

Comment please!

Bonse Aba-to practice!

Here is a practice track for Bonse Aba-if you'd like just your track, bring in a blank CD and I'll burn it for you to work with at home!

Al Shlosha D'varim HOMEWORK (due 9/23)

This winter we'll be performing "Al Shlosha D'varim" in Chorus...take a look at the following choirs singing, and tell me what you think on the following three performances.

Answer the following questions:
1. What is the choir doing well as far as observing dynamics?
2. How are the cut-offs, vowel sounds, and harmonies?
3. What is something you think Ms. Cordell would tell this choir to do differently? Use as much detail as possible.

CHOIR 1

CHOIR 2

CHOIR 3

Just think-OUR choir could be the next video performance uploaded of "Al Shlosha D'varim."

Enjoy your day!

New Year, New Music

Welcome back to the school year 2010-2011!

Did you know there are over 100 students in Chorus this year throughout the grades? That's about 15% of the student population at WMS! Not too shabby. :)

In your Chorus folder you'll find several songs:

For all grades..."I Want You Back/ABC", "Al Shlosha D'varim", and "Beyond the Sea"

For Grade 7/8..."Panis Angelicus" and "Don't Cry Out Loud"

Remember, if you haven't stuck a pencil in your folder, be sure to do so soon...there will be a folder check sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Enjoy your day!

Ooh La La, I feel like we're famous!

Hey Choristers! I just found a comment on one of our songs from last year...from a stranger! I know, it should have made me go "uh-oh", but really? It made me feel connected to the big bad world out there. I mean, what other Chorus teacher out there is having her (or his?) Chorus sing "A Zing-A Za?"

In other news: Your Six Flags money is due next Friday, so PLEASE don't forget! In fact, here are a few dates to put into your mind/Blackberry/iPhone (lucky)...

March 12-Six Flags money due-$55 (checks payable to WMS PTO)
March 18-Lion King!!
March 19-20-High School Musical JR! Tickets are just $5. What a deal!

There's a reminder sheet up outside the Chorus room about Lion King, by the way. Check it out and make sure you check off your name if you're still going! Sometimes things come up and people can't come on field trips...but for this one, there's a waiting list, so if you CANNOT go, please let me know so someone can buy your ticket from you! There are several kids who want to go.

Enjoy your day!

Rut-Roh

I went to upload an audio practice track this morning for "Poor Man Lazrus" (a piece we're singing in 7th and 8th grade Chorus) and guess what? The site has changed and is now run pretty much in Spanish. Dadgum it!

Anyway, I will be searching around for a new site to host our audio practice tracks and hopefully have everything up and running here before February break. Keep in mind, the key word is "hopefully"!

Don't forget: everyone has a quiz this week...

Sixth grade: sight-reading
7th/8th: Rock Island Line, mm. 17-27

Enjoy your day!
